        NEPAL

        The Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, consisting of 7 provinces, with Kathmandu as its capital, is a multi-ethnic, multilingual, multi-cultural, and multi-religious country, with 12 ethnic groups that coexist harmoniously, its main language is Nepali, with an approximate population of 29.5 million inhabitants.

         Bordering the Tibet Autonomous Region in China to the north, and India to the south, east and west, it is also close to Bhutan and Bangladesh. Its main religion is Hinduism, followed by Tibetan Buddhism. Gautama Buddha was born in Lumbini, Nepal.

      Along with Everest, he highest mountain in the world, Nepal is home to eight of the fourteen mountains that are over 8,000 m high: Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Dhaulagiri I, Manaslu and Annapurna I.

         With four major river basins, Nepal has one of the most dynamic river systems in the world, and also has one of the greatest diversity of flora on the planet, with over 7,000 species of flowers, 5% of which do not grow in other regions of the world.

Its flag is the only one in a triangular shape, the national flower of Nepal is the rhododendron, and the Yeti is a mythical animal.

        NAMASTE, the greeting widely used in Nepal to greet or say goodbye to someone, usually with folded hands and slightly lowering the head, means literally: “I bow to you”, or commonly, The God in me honours the God in you.

                                                                                                             Day 1 ~ KATHMANDU 

        Arrival in the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, the representative of the travel agency will meet us at the Tribhuvan International Airport, with the traditional Nepalese welcome greeting, which includes placing a thin scarf on newcomer’s shoulders wishing them happiness and prosperity. From there we will proceed to the hotel in Thamel, the most famous and charming neighbourhood of Kathmandu, with the rest of the day free to stroll and get to know the city.

                                                                                   Day 2 ~ KATHMANDU CITY TOUR

          Breakfast at the hotel and then we will proceed for a city tour of Kathmandu.

            NATIONAL MUSEUM OF NEPAL, the largest museum in Nepal presents an extensive collection of statues, paintings and thangkas of Hindu and Tibetan deities. The museum's heritage is known for its famous collection of weapons and artefacts of Nepal’s history, another favourite gallery displays paintings and official photographs of kings and queens of Nepal, many of whom highly revered by the Nepalese people to the day. Its’ beautiful garden invite us to spend a peaceful moment surrounded by nature.

            SWAYAMBHUNATH STUPA, a Tibetan name meaning 'Sublime Trees', due to the many varieties of trees found on the hill. Swayambhu, means ‘self-born’, according to the Swayambhu Purana the entire valley was once filled with a huge lake, from which a lotus grew and the valley came to be known as Swayambhu, ‘Self-Created’. This ancient religious complex, on top of the hill overlooking the valley where Kathmandu is located, contains a stupa, several shrines, many Hindu and Buddhist shrines, as well as shops, libraries and small restaurants. It is affectionately called the Monkey Temple, because of the number of monkeys there.

             AMIDEVA BUDDHA PARK, also close to Swayambunath, this small and serene park brings us calm and tranquility, with three imposing golden statues of Lord Buddha in the lotus position, each measuring over 20 meters in height. Guatama Buddha in his expression as Amideva, or Amitabha, holding in his hands a vase containing the nectar of immortality. On the left side is Chenrezig, the Buddha of the present holds in his hands the Chintamani, the precious stone of knowledge and the fulfilment of human desires and aspirations. His mantra, Om Mani Pamde Hum, the “Jewel within the Lotus”, can be uttered to invoke his assistance. On the right side of Sakhya Muni is Padmasambhava, Guru Rinpoche, the Precious Master, one of the most revered masters of the Vajrayana, the Tibetan Buddhism tradition.

          KATHMANDU DURBAR SQUARE, a World Heritage Site and the main of the three Durbar Squares of its kind in Nepal, is distinguished by its many monuments, the old royal palace, its various temples and palaces with carved facades typical of Newari architecture. The most famous of these is the Nautalle Durbar, a nine-story palace built by the no less famous Prithvi Narayan Shah, the unifier of Nepal and its first king, it is also the residence of the Kumari, a child worshipped as an incarnation of the feminine energy, Shakti, according to Nepalese tradition.             PASHUPATINATH, dedicated to Shiva this temple represents the third eye, or Ajna chakra of Shiva's subtle body. Located on the banks of the Bagmati River, used for cremations on its right bank. Considered a sacred place of pilgrimage for Hindus, with its 518 small temples, of which the main temple is allowed only to Hindus, Jains and Buddhists.

                                                                                                                Day 3 ~ BHAKTAPUR AND PATAN

             Kathmandu > Bhaktapur, drive: 1 hour / 15 km. Bhaktapur > Patan, drive: 35 minutes / 14 km.

            After breakfast at the hotel, we will drive to Bhaktapur, known as the city of worship and culture, dating back to between 450 and 700 BC.

             BHAKTAPUR, founded in the 12th century, with settlements dating back to 450 to 750 AD, well known for colorful festivals, traditional dances, art, cuisine and lifestyle of the Newari community. Known for its stunning architecture, the city of worship is a veritable open-air museum. Given the style of its architecture and local life the old capital of Nepal makes you feel like going back in time.

            PATAN, LALITPUR, another of Nepal's eight World Heritage Sites, the city of artisans, home to the valley's finest artisans who have preserved ancient techniques used to produce exquisite sculptures, retains much of its old charm with its narrow streets, brick houses and numerous well-preserved Hindu temples, Buddhist monasteries (vihars) and monuments. Patan Durbar Square is a charming mix of palatial buildings, artistic courtyards and graceful pagoda temples. Vibrant, with excellent cafes and restaurants overlooking the main square, and craft shops selling beautiful and colorful Tibetan thangkas. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandhu.

                                            Day 4 ~   KATHMANDU> NAGARKOT (1hr 6 min / 26.1 km). OPTIONAL FLIGHT AROUND EVEREST

             Optional ~ flight around Mount Everest, early morning around 5 am our agency's car will pick you up at the hotel and take you to the airport. While on the plane enjoy the breathtaking view of the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest, and Mount Lhotse, Mount Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Manaslu and Annapurna among others, one hour flying alongside and above the Himalayas, transfer back to the hotel around 9:30 am. Breakfast at the hotel, morning at leisure.

          NAGARKOT, afternoon drive to Nagarkot, on the way we will visit Mahamansjushree Park, Buddha Peace Park, it has one of the most beautiful views in Nepal. Topped by the golden statue of Buddha, seated in lotus with his right hand down touching the Earth, Bhumishparsha Mudra, the position in which he attained enlightenment, in reverence and gratitude to the Earth that removed obstacles while he meditated. Each of us can buy and plant a tree seedling with the help of the park staff, who will take care of them as they have taken care of so many others planted previously by visitors.

       Arriving at the hotel in Nagarkot, we suggest relaxing and enjoying the surroundings with a short walk, savor the evening complimentary dinner at the hotel, with conversations, music and optional drinks. Overnight at the hotel in Nagarkot.

                                                   Day 5 ~ SUNRISE OVER THE HIMALAYAS AT NAGARKOT.  NAGARKOT > KATHMANDU (drive 1 hr 34 min / 38.6 km)

         Waking up before sunrise, early morning we will be at the hotel balcony to watch the sunrise illuminating the Himalayan mountain range with its rays, in an unforgettable experience. For the convenience of guests there is a panoramic photo of the whole view with its peaks and mountains respective names. Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Kathmandu.

           EVENING AT LEISURE. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

                                                                                 Day 6 ~ THAMEL, GARDEN OF DREAMS & BOUDHANATH

             TOUR OF THAMEL, in the morning we will stroll through the streets of Thamel, visiting craft and souvenirs’ shops in general, small temples, the Pilgrims Book Store with a profusion of illustrated books on art, religion, history, architecture of Nepal and Asia, calendars, clothes, and children's books.  

            GARDEN OF DREAMS, an oasis of peace and tranquility in the center of busy Thamel with small lotus and water lily ponds, beautiful pergolas, an amphitheater, three pavilions, and decorative fountains, with a variety of flowers coloring its more than six thousand square meters. Architecture and nature complement each other in an elegant style. The local café-restaurant, Kaiser, serves Nepalese and continental cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

            BOUDDHANATH, also a World Heritage Site, is the largest circular stupa in the world, topped by the eyes of Lord Buddha, became the symbol of Nepal. Surrounded by temples, shops and monasteries, its three main monasteries are:

             GURU LHAKHANG OR TAMANG GOMPA, dedicated to Padmasambava, the Buddha of meditation and wisdom also known as Guru Rinpoche, with public access, its rituals, prayers, chants, and blessings of protection for visitors performed daily, this three-story Gompa founded in the 12th century has preserved its current architecture since 1409.

            JAMCHEN LHAKANG of the Sanya school, the kingdom where Lord Buddha was born, dedicated to Lord Maitreya, recognized as the Buddha of the Future by all schools of Buddhism in the world. The youngest of the three monasteries was founded in 1986, contains the largest statue of Lord Maitreya.

           THARLAM MONASTERY, which also follows the principles of the Sakhya school, was founded by Ga Rabjamapa, born in 1397. His famous poem before he left says; “As soon as the appearances of this life cease, may I be born in the Tuṣita heaven, as the son of the protector Maitreya, and taste the glorious teachings of the Mahāyāna.”

      BOUDHA is a place of pilgrimage for all branches of Buddhism, devotees and tourists from all over the world, who do the “kora”, circumambulation around the stupa in devotion, walking or prostrating themselves.

         There are many shops, cafes and restaurants within the complex with spectacular views of the compassionate eyes of the Lord Buddha in the center above the stupa. The sunset seen from the higher floors of these restaurants is of extraordinary and unforgettable beauty.

Legend has it that when the stupa or chorten was completed, all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas immersed themselves in it, which is why it is also called “The All-Encompassing”.

      Behind Bouddhanath, and open to visitors, the Shechen Monastery in Kathmandu is a true sanctuary of peace, where we will enjoy accommodation at the Shechen Guest House, in an atmosphere of genuine Buddhist tranquility. Overnight at the Shechen Guest House in Bouddanath.

                                                                    7th day ~ KATHMANDU – POKHARA (car: 8/9 hours / 202 km)

       Breakfast at the Shechen Guest House, another lap around the Bouddha stupa, and then we will continue by car on the SCENIC ROAD FROM KATHMANDU TO POKHARA. Enjoying its landscapes and nature, river beaches, forests, waterfalls, quarries, rapids, the mountain from which Prithvi Narayan Shah descended to unify Nepal, transforming the small tribes and regions into one country, and became the Ghorka monarch, the first king of Nepal. We will stop on the road for lunch and snacks, to take photos of places and people, and to enjoy the ride calmly. The driving time takes about 8/9 hours. Overnight in Pokhara.

                                                             Day 8 ~ POKHARA, CITY OF LAKES AND MIRROR OF THE HIMALAYA

         FREE MORNING, following the custom of travellers arriving in Pokhara: relax and do nothing. A tourist city par excellence, from where excursions depart to the entire Annapurna region, known for its extraordinary views of the Himalayas, especially the famous sacred mountain, never climbed, with its two peaks resembling a fish tail, FishTail or Macchapuchhre, visible from the city and reflected in the mirror-like waters of Lake Phewa. Near the lake there are several shops offering rental of boards and stand-up paddleboarding equipment (boards for standing on lakes and calm waters). Pokhara also offers the following extreme sports options: bungee jumping, zip lining, and paragliding.

        CITY TOUR BY CAR in the afternoon, around the city and around Lakes Phewa and Begna, and a visit to the Golden Buddha.  Visit to the Mountain Museum, International Mountain Museum, was created with the aim of preserving the history and recording the evolution of mountaineering around the world, and of the indigenous inhabitants of the mountainous regions of Nepal and the world.

           PHEWA LAKE, 1 hour boat ride across the serene Fewa Lake, surrounded by forests and hills on one side, and the city and mountains on the other, this serene lake reflects the surrounding mountains and invites us to relax and appreciate nature more. Visit to the Talbarahai temple, located on a small island in the middle of the lake.

            AARATI, evening, take a short walk along the lakeshore. In the evening, we will attend the Aarati, a sacred ceremony of offering fire and the elements. This puja or prayer ritual, always performed on the banks of a river or lake, is an offering of fire to the Gods and the Sky, led by Hindu monks, with sacred chants in Sanskrit, and audience participation. Overnight at the hotel in Pokhara.

                                                                                                        Day 9 ~ POKHARA: PUMDIKOT AND PEACE PAGODA

           PUMDIKOT, a 15 and a half meter statue of Shiva, above a solid dome, with108 feet (32.91 meters), a sacred number for Bons, Hindus, Buddhists and Jains. The imposing image of Maheswara transforms the place into a sanctuary for prayers, meditation and reflection. Inaugurated in 2012, the largest statue of Shiva in Nepal is located 1,500 meters high on the top of the hill with a panoramic view of the city, the lake and the Himalayas.

      PEACE PAGODA, PEACE STUPA, one of the eighty Peace Pagodas erected around the world in the name of peace, after the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, in the traditional Japanese style of the Nichiren Buddhist religion, well known for its main mantra: Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. 

       EVENING FREE for shopping and discover the many restaurants, cafes, small malls, handicraft shops, fine clothing, clothing, shoes and trekking equipment. Overnight at the hotel in Pokhara.

                                                                                    Day 10 ~ HIMALAYAS: SARANGKOT & NAUDANDA (21 min / 10.0 km)

        Wake up early and head to Sarangkot, ten kilometres from Pokhara. In less than 25 minutes on the road, we will be in Sarangkot, 1,592 meters high, and watch the spectacular sunrise surrounded by the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas.           NAUDANDA, from where we can see three of the ten highest peaks in the world, in addition to Mardi Himal, at 5,587 meters, which is below the famous Machapuchare, or Fish Tail Mountain 3,708 meters. On the left we see Daulagiri 8,172 meters, in the middle Annapurna I 8,091 meters, as well as Lamjung 6,986 meters, and on the right Manaslu 8,163 meters. Overnight at Naudanda Hotel, watching the stars and the Milky Way in the sky above us.

                                                                                  Day 11 ~ NAUDANDA & DHAMPUS (drive, 40 min / 12.3 km)

        Breakfast in Naudanda with its spectacular and little-known view of the Himalayan mountain range, and then we will continue by car to Dhampus, which is at 1,650 meters high. Dhampus, the entry route for trekking to the Annapurna region, is known for its stunning views of the mountain ranges in front of the village. Once again relax and enjoy the starry sky above the Himalayas at night. Overnight at the hotel in Dhampus.

                                                                                    Day 12 ~ DHAMPUS & POKHARA (55 min / 25.6 km drive)

         Breakfast at the hotel in Dhampus, overlooking the stunning views of the Himalayas from a different angle, then visit the village with its local customs, famous for its picturesque location. Drive back to Pokhara.  

        TASHI-LING BUDDHIST MONASTERY AND TIBETAN REFUGEE CAMP. In the evening we will visit these two places, where we can enjoy the tranquility of this monastery and learn more about the way of life of Tibetan Buddhists, their saga, culture, cuisine, crafts and the beauty of their jewelry and carpets.  Overnight at the hotel in Pokhara.

                                                                                        Day 13 ~ POKHARA – KATHMANDU (flight 25 min / 146 km)

        Breakfast at the hotel, then the company representative will take us to Pokhara airport, 25-minute flight to Kathmandu, check in at the hotel. Free morning in Kathmandu, enjoying the joy and hustle and bustle of the Thamel neighborhood, with its varied shops, street vendors, decorated rickshaws, boys selling illuminated balloons, antique shops, carpets and carved wooden furniture, thangkas, statues, and much more.         DURBAR SQUARE, in the afternoon we will take another stroll around Durbar Square, this time including the open-air crafts market, and strolling again through its more than 50 temples and palaces.                                                                                                                                                                        Dinner optional dinner at the Himalayan Café or at any other excellent rooftop restaurants with exceptional views of the sunset over the square.  Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.
